Sheriff Joe Brogan was born and raised in L’Anse Michigan. He graduated from L’Anse High School in 1999 and from Northern Michigan University in 2001 with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He worked for the Baraga Police Department and the Negaunee Police Department before being hired with the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office in 2004. Throughout his career at the Sheriff’s Office, he worked in both Corrections and Patrol. He was elected Sheriff in November 2020.
