Todd A. Ross is a Cheboygan native graduating from Cheboygan High School in the class of 1993. Todd then went on to attend Lake Superior State University where he received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. Todd majored in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Law Enforcement and a minor in Jail Management. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Todd attended and graduated from the LSSU Police Academy. After a brief stent working part time at various departments, Todd landed back home in Cheboygan. Todd started at the Cheboygan Sheriff Office in 1999 as a road patrol deputy. Within a year Todd was promoted to detective and then assigned to the Strait’s Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (SANE). After more than 3 years on the SANE team Todd returned to the Sheriff Office as an in house drug education officer and detective. Todd continued to do drug investigations and began an intensive community engagement program giving drug awareness presentations on a regular basis to any community group or school that would allow time. Todd was promoted to Lieutenant overseeing all daily operations of the Sheriff Office. Todd ran in a contested election against the then undersheriff and prevailed, taking office on January 1st, 2025.
