Patrick J. Whiteford was born and raised in East Jordan, MI. He graduated from East Jordan High School in 1994 and from Ferris State University in 1999 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Eastern Michigan University in 2010 with a M.S. in Information Assurance.
He was hired into the Kalkaska County Sheriff Office on October 18, 1999. He was part of the Traverse Narcotic Team, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and a School Liaison.
He was promoted to Road Patrol Sergeant in 2009, transferred to Dispatch Sergeant in 2011, appointed as Undersheriff on March 9, 2015 and appointed as Sheriff on December 29, 2015.
Sheriff Whiteford is a member of the Kalkaska Rotary Club, Youth Softball, Football, Hockey Coach and 4-H Leader.
He has been married to his wife Malena for 10 years and has 3 children.
