Sheriff Bob Mendham was born and raised in White Cloud. He graduated from White Cloud High School in 1983. He and his brother John followed their father, Al, into law enforcement.
He was hired as a corrections officer by the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office in 1991. He was promoted to Corporal and then Sergeant before moving to road patrol as a full time deputy in 1997. While serving as deputy he held several positions; K9, dive team, community police and worked two years undercover on the drug team. In 2007, Sheriff Mendham was appointed Chief of Police for the City of White Cloud, a position his father held for 10 years. In 2014, while still serving as Chief of Police for White Cloud, he was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Grant. He held both positions until he was elected Sheriff in 2016 taking office January 1, 2017.
Bob has been married to his wife Judy for 25 years and together they have two adult sons, Brady and Rob.
