Sheriff Ed Williams is a lifelong resident, 4th Generation, of Osceola County except his time spent in the United States Army. Sheriff Williams attended Military Police School in 1989 and spent 6 years in the United States Army as an MP deploying to Panama and Desert Storm, working Traffic and SRT at Fort Hood, and spending a year in Korea making the rank of Sergeant.
Sheriff Williams attended Kirtland Regional Police Academy in 1999 and worked for the Clare County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years starting out on Road Patrol for 4 years and as a Road Sergeant for 6 years before being promoted to Road Lieutenant for about 10 years before being appointed as Sheriff of Osceola County.
Sheriff Williams father Don Williams worked at and retired from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office as well. Sheriff Williams has still not ended his military career as he is the Regimental Command Sergeant Major for the 177th Regiment (RTI), Fort Custer, Michigan. Sheriff Williams has attended all Leadership courses offered to Non-Commissioned Officers all the way through graduating from the United States Army Sergeant Majors Academy in 2017.
